Learn about the changes for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform that Microsoft will make by March 2022

This summer, Microsoft released plans for updates for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform. This is a preview of new capabilities and features that began rolling out in October, and the entire process will continue through March 2022. Read our article to learn more about it.

The most important changes for Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 Marketing – the most significant change is the improved ability to create Customer Journey. The ability to segment customers and the ability to reach and interact with customers at every stage of the sale has been expanded, as well as increasing the level of personalization of messages. Marketers will be able to quickly and conveniently build new segments and create tailored content in detail, and then optimize it using, among others, effective AB testing tools.

Dynamics 365 Sales – New changes in Dynamics 365 also mean the introduction of Deal Manager, a modern workspace for managing the sales funnel, as well as further improvements in the integration between Dynamics 365 Sales and Microsoft Teams, including more tools to facilitate collaboration and communication.

The goal is to make salespeople more effective, including through improvements in integration with LinkedIn. Access to the Sales Navigator tool will be made easier. Sales Accelerator forecasting tools will also be updated. Several new features will also be added to the Dynamics 365 Sales mobile app, which is available in the iOS and Android app stores.

Dynamics 365 Customer Service – enhancements will be made for AI-assisted content creation. An intelligent routing service using AI and manually set rules – will automatically assign customer requests from all communication channels to the most suitable agents (e.g. those with the right knowledge and the least workload ). Microsoft is also working on diagnostic tools for managers that would use machine learning to analyze customer sentiment, estimated workload, and improved analysis of past events.

Dynamics 365 Field Service – A new customer portal will be introduced that takes existing features, such as technician location, and combines them with new features, such as self-scheduling and improved appointment management, that will aim to better serve and communicate with customers. Additionally, a refreshed form for work orders will be designed to further increase user productivity.

Dynamics 365 Business Central – the main change will be simplification and streamlining, enabling more convenient management of licenses and permission policies. In addition, there will be deeper integration with Microsoft 365.

Dynamics 365 Customer Voice – the main focus is on increasing the scope of possibilities for survey creators to provide them with more information. This will allow the survey founder to access data faster and then use Power Automate to define custom workflows to engage the right customers, at the right stage of the interaction.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – This release in B2B will improve the forecasting engine for individual customers and their behavior at each stage.

The data entry process for Customer Insights will also be improved, primarily involving additional Power Query connectors. The so-called Engagement insights in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights will enable more holistic data analysis across multiple channels: web, mobile, third-party solutions, as well as at individual stages of the Customer Journey.

Key changes for Microsoft Power Platform

Power BI – Within this tool, Microsoft is targeting three key areas:

  • equipping every user with AI-based insights,
  • streamlining the work of teams, with BI woven into the team’s work structure,
  • improving the work of entire organizations so that they can cope with modern challenges.

Power BI Pro – there will be an expansion of the report builder. Working within the Power BI service will change a bit, including for the mobile app. This will include improvements in exporting data from Excel, data visualization, matrices, and will simplify the creation of reports based on data from Microsoft Dataverse and Dynamics 365. The integration of Power BI with Microsoft Teams will also be deepened, especially at the level of chats and notifications.

Power BI Premium – a new way of billing for this service will be introduced – automatic scaling and pay-as-you-go billing, in case of exceeding the default limits, with no loss in performance. In addition, greater ability to interact with large volumes of data will be introduced, through more powerful reports and the use of Azure Synapse Analytics.

Power Apps – significant developer enhancements will be implemented to advance the usability of both web and mobile apps. Microsoft will release, a modern Power Apps designer that will enable rapid app development. Developers will be able to take advantage of fast, intelligent development, using artificial intelligence support in Power Apps Studio to generate code using natural language.

Developers will also be able to configure apps offline. There will also be new capabilities to facilitate software development and developer efficiency within Power Apps portals.

Key new capabilities include:

  • general availability of portals support for the Power Apps component framework,
  • support for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) via the Power Apps command-line interface (CLI), representing the first step toward comprehensive application lifecycle management (ALM) for developers and ISVs.

Power Automate – Development continues in several areas, including cloud-based workflows with templates for Microsoft Teams and further integrations to enable administrators to communicate solutions containing workflows across teams in their organization.

Enhanced document automation will also be released, enabling complex large-scale document processing for more efficient data extraction, among other things.
The Power Automate Desktop release will also offer more possible options within WinAutomation, and will include new RPA-enabled scenarios for more Dynamics 365 applications, as well as the ability to use Dataverse and more than 475 API connectors directly from Desktop flows.

Power Virtual Agents – introduces improvements to the bot creation process, deeper integration with Power Apps Portals, new data loss prevention options, proactive sending of updates to bots in Microsoft Teams and more. Microsoft is also expanding the integration with Power Automate with improved error handling and new trigger management in a way that streamlines the bot experience.

AI Builder – new functionality related to intelligent document processing will be added. New functionalities will include the ability to
New functionality will include the ability to extract a broader set of content types in documents (checkboxes, signatures, typed fields, date and currency), as well as support for more pre-built models in the Document Automation solution (for example, receipts and invoices) . AI model integration will also be supported through the Power Apps formula bar.
