On 19th November, Microsoft Ignite stormed the tech world, celebrating ten years of innovation while outlining the future driven by AI. The main keynote has shown that we are now squarely in a new era of AI-featuring intelligent agents with multimodal interfaces that understand, plan, and remember. Here’s a closer look at how the Microsoft 365 Copilot vision comes to life.

• CoPilot, the UI for AI. This will be a game-changer in collaboration, acting as the bridge between humans and AI agents. CoPilot Studio will empower us to extend its functionality and create autonomous agents.

• CoPilot Pages. The next generation will make durable work artefacts to share and co-create with AI and colleagues.

• CoPilot Actions: Automate status updates by gathering information from colleagues and summarising responses, even following up with reminders.

• CoPilot Analytics. Advanced dashboards and business analytics for performance insights.

• CoPilot in Teams summarises chat content, conversations, and visual data on-screen.

• CoPilot Control System manages security, permissions, and risk across the AI ecosystem.

Business Transformation with AI Agents

We believe the potential for clients to deploy these agents for them to make operations smoother and much more secure is enormous. Also, Dynamics 365 will go live with 10 specialised agents for the automation of critical business processes from sales lead qualification down to customer service collaboration.

Microsoft will offer several pre-built agents to automate daily tasks:

• Facilitator Agent plans and executes meetings.

• Project Manager Agent automates project management on Planner.

• Employee Self-Service Agent automates the process of fixing employee problems with HR and IT.

• SharePoint Agent finds documents and answers questions beyond simple searches.

• Interpreter Agent. Real-time voice interpretation in Teams will be game-changing for global meetings.

Microsoft partners, including Adobe, SAP, and ServiceNow, have also built agents that are ready to deploy.

Advancing Cloud and Edge Computing

Microsoft’s Azure AI Stack will redefine how we develop and deploy AI solutions. Highlights include:

• Developer Tools & Services: A robust toolkit for building AI applications.

• AI App Platform: Azure AI Foundry, a comprehensive server for AI-driven apps.

• Data: A unified platform built on Fabric to harness intelligent data.

• Infrastructure: Expanding global access with Azure’s “world computer” capabilities.

The keynote was filled with practical examples of AI in action. Vodafone’s use of AI for contract management and customer service is just the tip of the iceberg.
