Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 Unlocks the Future of Human–AI Collaboration

Microsoft is once again pushing boundaries with the Wave 2 spring release of Microsoft 365 Copilot — and it's clear they're shaping the future of work. Designed for an environment where humans and AI collaborate closely, this release introduces powerful new tools to boost creativity, speed up workflows, and elevate productivity across the board.

Let's explore what's new and how it could redefine how we work — for teams and individuals alike.

Copilot: Your Window into the World of Agents

The latest updates transform Copilot from a helpful assistant to an intelligent partner. Leveraging next-generation AI models, adaptive memory, and powerful reasoning agents, Copilot is now equipped to support your most ambitious tasks — whether that's building strategy decks or analysing complex datasets.

Here's what's new in Wave 2:

  • AI-Powered Search: Locate the right information faster with smarter, enterprise-wide search that understands context.

  • Create for Business: Empower your team to generate content and branded assets with ease — no design expertise required.

  • Copilot Notebooks: A new, flexible space where you can collaborate with AI in a freeform canvas. Explore ideas, analyse data, test queries, and iterate on strategies — all with full control over each prompt and output.

  • The Agent Store: Pin and deploy intelligent agents that integrate directly into your everyday tools and processes.

Each capability is designed to simplify your day, reduce cognitive load, and accelerate results.

We believe this shift represents more than just better tools — it signals a new way of thinking about work itself. Empowering teams to co-create with AI, not just automate tasks, unlocks a future where technology becomes a true partner in business innovation. We've already seen this dynamic at play across several of our Microsoft 365 client implementations.

Meet the Newest Agents

A highlight of this release is the introduction of two specialised reasoning agents — Researcher and Analyst.

These aren't generic AI assistants. They're built with deep reasoning capabilities to handle real-world complexity:

  • Researcher supports you through layered investigations, sourcing and synthesising trusted content quickly and thoroughly.

  • Analyst enables business users to draw meaningful conclusions from data — transforming large, messy datasets into crisp insights you can act on immediately.

You'll find these and other agents in the new Agent Store, which is part of the Microsoft Frontier programme. Alongside Microsoft-built agents, the store includes solutions from trusted partners like Miro, Confluent, and Atlassian. Organisations can also develop and publish their own agents internally.

Smarter Search with Copilot Search

Copilot Search redefines how we find knowledge at work. It delivers rich, conversational answers by drawing from apps and content across your business — all in real-time.

Integrated with platforms like ServiceNow, Google Drive, Slack, Confluence, and Jira, this unified search engine helps you find relevant answers, not just files — dramatically reducing time spent digging for information.

Copilot Studio: Build Custom AI Experiences

For IT leaders and business solution developers, Copilot Studio has received significant updates. You can now build, test, and deploy custom Copilots faster — with greater control, deeper data integration, and advanced orchestration tools to suit your organisation's unique needs. It's a big step forward for businesses looking to embed AI into line-of-business processes.

A Copilot Built Just for You

This release takes personalisation to the next level. Copilot now learns your role, communication style, and even preferred workflows — making its suggestions more relevant and proactive over time.

Importantly, memory and personalisation settings are private and user-controlled. You decide what Copilot remembers or forgets, ensuring privacy and compliance remain intact.

Introducing Create: Design for All

Creativity shouldn't be gated by skillsets. That's why the new Create experience enables anyone to produce on-brand content — using simple prompts to generate imagery, copy, banners, newsletters, and more.

With support from OpenAI's latest image generation model, GPT-4o, this tool helps businesses stay visually consistent and creative, while eliminating the bottlenecks often associated with traditional design workflows.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Work

The Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 update isn't just a product evolution — it's a strategic shift. It shows us what work can look like when AI becomes a collaborative agent, not just a tool.

With Microsoft leading the charge, organisations are better equipped than ever to create, decide, and move forward with clarity and speed.

The future is here — and it's powered by Copilot.
